Scratch is a coding language and site developed by researchers at MIT for students aged 8 to 16. Students can use Scratch to easily build their own games and stories and to share those with others. The site is totally free, lets students design and build their own games, has tons of tutorials, and lets students check out what other students have built. There are no ads and the site is easy to navigate and visually appealing. The site is designed to encourage students to explore and create on their own. That means that there are no sequential lessons. Instead, students try to build something and learn skills as they are needed for what they are creating.
